International Women's Day meme responses...

In this post I participated in a meme in honor of International Women's Day. The meme was as follows:

Name a woman in one of my fandoms and I will attempt a drabble (or three things, or something along those lines) about her.

If you give me a keyword or a prompt, I will use it if it sparks something for me.

I received: Monica Reyes, Helen Magnus, Bo (from Lost Girl), Jess Morgan (my OFC), and Janet Fraiser.

Here are my responses to the women I receieved (in no particular order).

Blanket disclaimer: All television shows, movies, books, and other copyrighted material referred to, and the characters, settings, and events thereof, are the properties of their respective owners. As the work in this journal is an interpretation of the original material and not for-profit, it constitutes fair use. Jess Morgan is all mine. :)

3 Things about Helen Magnus

1) The first person to break Helen’s heart was John Druitt.
2) The first time Helen was devastated was when her daughter Ashley was killed.
3) Helen finally found true peace in the arms of a certain redheaded immortal doctor.

Monica Reyes

Life Was Good

Monica stood on the patio watching the sky turn several shades of red and purple as the sun dipped below the horizon. She tightened the blanket wrapped around her shoulders and drew in a deep breath of the crisp autumn air. She then turned and gazed at the figure sprawled across the bed inside the bedroom and smiled softly. She could have never predicted the course her life had taken, but she wouldn’t change a single thing. Retired from the FBI, a tenured professor at an ivy league school, and twenty years (and counting) with Dana Scully. Life was good.

Bo from Lost Girl from geekgrrllurking

Bo slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb the other occupant. She went into the kitchen and got herself a glass of ice water. As she sipped, she walked back to the bedroom, stopping the in the doorway to lean against the jamb. Her eyes slowly traveled over the naked form of the woman in her bed. As a Fae, Dyson may be able to provide Bo with the healing life force that a Succubus takes during sex, but it was Lauren, the human doctor, that gave her what her heart desired.

Dark eyes opened and Lauren smiled.

“How are you feeling?” Bo asked solicitously.

“Why don’t you come back to bed and find out?” Lauren replied with a gleam in her eyes.

Bo smiled and crossed the room. Kneeling on the bed she began to trace her tongue along Lauren’s skin, painting an erotic tattoo of sensation that soon had her begging for more.

Janet Fraiser

Wealthy Woman

Janet took a sip of her tea and then set it down on the small table beside the chair she was sitting in on the back porch. She smiled as she watched the twins playing in the yard. Even after all of the double and triple shifts she’d pulled over the years, she never understood where children got so much energy from. If she could have found a way to bottle it she’d be a wealthy woman.

She heard a car pull up. Soon the fence gate opened, admitting her daughter. Cassie walked up the steps onto the porch and greeted her mother with a kiss on the cheek.

“Thanks for watching the girls, Mom. I hope they haven’t been too much trouble.”

“Not at all. It’s my pleasure. Besides, they always behave when they’re with me.”

Cassie rolled her eyes. “What’s your secret?”

“I’m not their mother,” Janet replied with a chuckle.

“This is payback, isn’t it? This is what I get for all those times I misbehaved, right?”

Janet grinned. “Just wait until they’re teenagers.”

Cassie just shook her head. It was then time for her to round up her seven-year-old twins and head home to her husband.

Janet closed her eyes as a cool breeze countered the warmth of the late afternoon sun. A gentle hand on her shoulder let her know she was no longer alone. She opened her eyes and gazed up at her wife.

“How was work?” Janet asked.

“I hate paperwork; I’d rather be in the field,” Sam responded.

“Trading in gate travel for the office and paperwork is the price of command.”

Sam nodded. “But I do love being able to come home every night, and usually in time for dinner, too,” she added with a smile.

“I haven’t started dinner yet because I was watching the twins.”

“I know. I spoke to Cassie as she leaving. Let me change out of uniform and then I’ll take you out to dinner.”

As Sam went back inside the house Janet smiled to herself. She didn’t have to bottle anything; she already was a wealthy woman in all the ways that mattered.

Jess Morgan

Yes, Dear

When Jess came to, her head was pounding. She even felt a trickle of blood on the back of her neck. Someone had blindsided her. She didn’t know how, but somehow her cover had been blown.

Jess tried to move, but found herself deftly tied in place. There was a blindfold over her eyes, but she could see just a sliver below the bottom edge of it. She was on a dirty, concrete floor. She was tied to a steel column at her back and her arms were bound around the column. She must have been there quite a while, because the position was starting to make her shoulders ache. Jess tested the strength of the bindings around her wrists to no avail. All she managed to do was make them feel tighter.

Jess peered at the bindings around her chest. Someone had tied her up with braided leather – wet, braided leather. And now that the leather was mostly dry it had tightened. No wonder she’d lost the feeling in her hands and was finding it harder and harder to breathe. There was simply no give to the bindings.

Suddenly she heard something. Someone was coming. Even with her normally heightened senses, Jess couldn’t make out what the two new arrivals were quietly discussing. After a few moments there was a definitely a struggle and the sound of a fist connecting with skin, followed by lone footsteps approaching Jess’s position.

Under the bottom edge of her blindfold, Jess was able to make out black leather pants and matching boots. There was a snick of a knife blade snapping into place before the boots moved out of her sight and behind her. The bindings around Jess’s wrists were cut and she brought her arms forward painfully. As she slowly reached up to remove her blindfold, Jess felt the constriction around her chest give way as the last of her bindings were cut.

Jess looked up at her benefactor... and almost cringed at the cross look on Dana’s face.

“You and I are going to have to have a talk about these damn undercover assignments you keep going on.”

Jess knew better than to point out that she was only following the Director’s orders. Sometimes it was just better to nod and say, “Yes, Dear.”
